Wnt Signaling in Development and Regeneration

Our lab is located in Izmir International Biomedicine and Genome Institute (iBG-izmir) at Dokuz Eylül University Health Campus. We are a group of young and motivated people who enjoy science and social life here in Izmir.

We are interested in the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway that has vital roles in development and tissue/organ regeneration. We aim to characterize new drug target candidates by understanding how tight pathway regulation occurs. Moreover, we aim at exploring the role of Wnt signaling in regeneration of the adult brain by exploiting the highly regenerative zebrafish. Zebrafish is an extraordinary genetic model that displays lifelong regenerative capacity in virtually all organs. We strongly believe that our studies will contribute to our understanding of the brain regeneration and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
